Chair Shadow Series

I have had a thing for chairs most of my life. They are such a common element in human life and yet usually overlooked.
I am interested in the shadows cast and the evocation of feeling, memory and story.
A chair found in the basement of my parent’s house, a chair that sat at my grandfather’s desk, a chair set on the curb for free. During the pandemic I loved seeing the
chairs set out under a tree or benches beside the sidewalk for people to gather at a distance.
Chairs hold the memory of all the conversations, connections and daydreams made upon them.
They wear the touch of the hands of maker and user.
The chairs are invitations to sit, to rest, to consider, to listen, to slow down and open to the space, sound and light around us.
